Julie Pernworth is moving up at CBS.

The exec has been promoted to executive vp comedy development at CBS Entertainment, the network announced Thursday.

Pernworth succeeds longtime CBS exec Wendi Trilling, who announced her plan to depart at the end of June when her contract expires after 24 years with the network. In her new role, Pernworth will head CBS's comedy department and oversee development of new comedy series for the network.

Pernworth joined CBS in 2000 as vp comedy development and was promoted to svp comedy development in 2006. She also played a role in developing CBS' two new fall comedies Angel From Hell and Life in Pieces.

Prior to joining CBS, Pernworth served as director of casting and, later, director of prime time series at NBC.
